Knights at the World's Fair

There were two "knights" depicted at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.  King Louis IX was one of these - a knightly King in full battle armor on his horse.  Also depicted was the explorer Desoto, who was also displayed in armor on his horse - Desoto "discovered" the Mississippi River.

This casting of the King in bronze was made as a permanent version of the paster of paris version that was at the 1904 Fair and is now in front of the St. Louis art museum.  Notice the armor on the King's horse and the gauntlet holding his inverted sword.
